Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy

Stevenson Bros is committed to acting ethically, responsibly and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships. We take a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking and are committed to ensuring that these practices do not take place within our business or supply chains. 

Modern slavery is a criminal offence and a violation of fundamental human rights. It can take many forms, including slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking. 

We are committed to implementing and maintaining effective systems and controls to help prevent modern slavery and to ensure compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. 

Our Commitment 

We expect the same high standards from all suppliers, contractors and business partners. We aim to work only with organisations that share our commitment to ethical working practices and responsible employment standards. 

As part of our supplier and contractor relationships, we seek assurances that appropriate policies and procedures are in place to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within their own operations and supply chains. 

Identifying Risks 

We recognise that identifying potential victims of modern slavery can be challenging, as exploitation can take many forms and is often hidden. 

Stevenson Bros acknowledges its responsibility to undertake reasonable due diligence to help ensure that: 

• Workers are not exploited  
• Working conditions are safe and lawful  
• Employment, health and safety and human rights standards are upheld  
• Individuals have freedom of movement and communication  
• Suppliers and contractors operate responsibly and ethically  

Scope of this Policy 

This policy applies to all individuals working for or on behalf of Stevenson Bros in any capacity, including: 

• Employees  
• Directors and managers  
• Agency workers  
• Contractors and subcontractors  
• Consultants  
• Suppliers and business partners  

Policies and Controls 

Stevenson Bros operates policies and procedures designed to support ethical and transparent business practices. 

This includes a whistleblowing process which encourages employees, suppliers and others working with the business to report concerns relating to wrongdoing, including potential modern slavery or human rights abuses. 

All concerns raised will be taken seriously and investigated appropriately. 

We are committed to ensuring that all employees are legally entitled to work in the UK and relevant checks are carried out where required. 

Due Diligence and Supply Chain Management 

We undertake reasonable due diligence when engaging new suppliers and contractors and may review existing suppliers where appropriate. 

This may include: 

• Reviewing supplier policies and procedures  
• Requesting compliance information and documentation  
• Conducting site visits where necessary  
• Monitoring ongoing supplier relationships  

We encourage employees and contractors to report any concerns they may encounter during day-to-day operations. 

Responsibility for this Policy 

The Directors of Stevenson Bros have overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with this policy and with relevant legal obligations. 

Day-to-day responsibility for implementing and monitoring the policy sits with management, who are responsible for ensuring that employees understand and comply with its requirements. 

Training and Awareness 

Stevenson Bros is committed to promoting awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking across the business. 

Employees may receive training or guidance to help them: 

• Identify signs of exploitation or modern slavery  
• Understand reporting procedures  
• Recognise the importance of ethical working practices  

Our commitment to preventing modern slavery is communicated to suppliers, contractors and business partners where appropriate. 

Breach of Policy 

Any employee found to be in breach of this policy may face disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. 

Stevenson Bros reserves the right to terminate relationships with suppliers, contractors or business partners found to be involved in modern slavery or human trafficking practices.
